Challenge

• Strathfield Council’s ‘Vision 2020’ resulted in substantial support for an underground bus/rail interchange and redevelopment of the Town Centre to create a quality public domain through a combination of community and stakeholder consultation
• Submit a funding proposal to the NSW Government and the Federal Government’s Infrastructure Australia Initiative for a major public transport infrastructure development to significantly improve transport links for the inner west and greater metropolitan regions

Action

• Organised and coordinated round table meetings between Strathfield Municipal Council, Ministry of Transport, RailCorp, STA (Sydney Buses) and Sydney Metro
• Briefed NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet on a regular basis
• Coordinated further transport, design and feasibility investigations with the appropriate architects, quantity surveyors, town planners and external traffic consultants

Result

• Submitted a funding proposal for the Strathfield Town Centre Bus/Rail Interchange to the NSW Government and the Federal Government’s Infrastructure Australia Initiative
