John Elvy has been in the real estate and development profession for 40 years. During that time, John’s focus has been in property investment strategies, project development, growing real estate businesses and building international property networks.

John was a Senior Executive/Director with Colliers International, Knight Frank and was Managing Director of LJ Hooker International, then Chairman of the LJ Hooker Commercial Group. As Chairman and Director of International Business Development from 2000 to 2006, John grew the business to be the largest commercial network in Australasia with 44 specialist offices and a turnover in excess of $2 billion.

From 2001 to 2004, John was a non-executive director of James Fielding Group, an Australian public company that specialised in property funds management. This group commenced business in 2000 and grew to over $2.3 billion in funds under management prior to merging with Mirvac Limited in 2005.

John was Chairman of Leighton Properties for 5 years and is currently a Non-Executive Director. He retired in June 2008 as the Executive General Manager of Leighton Holdings, responsible for sourcing civil and commercial projects in Malaysia, China, India, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and the Middle East.

John was an elected member of Local Government, serving 3 years on the City of Sydney Council, and (17) years on Strathfield Municipal Council as the Mayor for 3 terms and Chairman of Finance, Building and Planning and committees. He is Vice President of the Property Council Australia, NSW, and is regularly called upon for property advice, and to develop strategies for city and urban planning programs.
