Challenge

• Devise a strategy to consolidate the site, involving the retention and integration of existing heritage listed buildings into the development
• Coordinate development management process

Action

• Negotiated with 5 property owners in George and York Streets, Sydney
• Several properties were heritage listed and required lengthy negotiations with the NSW Heritage Council and the Council of the City of Sydney
• Coordination of design process as sensitive treatment of streetscape was needed on both George and York Streets
• Coordinated project control group meetings with all consultants
• Liaised with building contractor to finalise agreement

Result

• Floor space was purchased from one of the sites acquired
• The development comprises the functional and services integration of the five buildings within one city block accommodating approximately 27,000 sqm of office accommodation, retail, serviced apartments and cafe
• "Commercial Award 2000" - Royal Australian Institute of Architects National Awards
• "Architecture Award 2000" - Royal Australian Institute of Architects NSW Awards
