Challenge

• Appointed the lead consultant, in conjunction with Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, to provide strategic property advice to the Thai Government and Civil Cases Division under the terms of an Australian Government contract
• Raise the capacity of the Civil Cases division in Thailand to its duties and aim to provide a hierarchy of outputs to maximise the benefit of the Legal Execution Department in relation to property issues

Action

• Met with Senior Thai Government Officials and the Legal Execution Department
• Face to face briefing in Bangkok to Government Officers describing all aspects of the collateral for closure process in Australia and how this compares and contrasts with the situation in Thailand
• Provided advice on the process for distressed property in Australia and identified exceptions or variations to the Thai process
• Provided advice on all aspects of collateral for closure process including property issues in Australia

Result

• Designed and implemented a training programme in conjunction with Thai Government Officials, including preparation of training materials on property issues
• Training included valuation process, sales process, auction process and accounting process
